University of Houston-Downtown President Loren J. Blanchard was recently interviewed for the web series “Half Centenarian” hosted by Marla Banks. 

The show, available to view on YouTube, features candid conversations with Banks and special guests who discuss life … and new beginnings … after 50. 

Banks and her production team visited campus to discuss Blanchard’s new role leading Houston’s second largest university, as well as growing up in Lake Charles, Louisiana; the power of education; and how UHD is within the “temple of his familiar” (borrowing from the Alice Walker novel “The Temple of My Familiar”). 

President Blanchard joins other thought leaders and inspirational individuals interviewed for “Half Centenarian.” Banks has featured entrepreneurs, medical professionals, musicians and others for this growing Web series. She also has shared fitness and wellness topics for those in their 50s.
