Ongard Sirisaengtaksin, known by students, faculty and staff as Dr. Ongard, professor in UHD's Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology, passed away Saturday.

"Professor Ongard had a wonderful spirit that touched us all," said UHD President Bill Flores. "He inspired his students and his colleagues. We all will miss him dearly."

Professor Ongard first joined UHD as an assistant professor of mathematical sciences in 1986, was promoted to full professor in 2000, and was named professor of computer science in 2013 for his many years of scholarship and leadership in computer science at UHD.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Klein Funeral Home (16131 Champion Forest Drive in Spring, TX, 77379), including a celebration of his life scheduled for 7 p.m. View his obituary online.
