Michael A. Olivas has joined the University of Houston-Downtown as its interim president.

Olivas is director of the University of Houston Law Center's Institute for Higher Education Law & Governance. In addition, he holds the William B. Bates Distinguished Chair in Law professorship. He also has served as associate dean of the Law Center.

William Flores, former president of UHD, will continue in the University of Houston System as a tenured faculty member.
