Newly Founded UHD UN Assoc. Goes to Washington, D.C.

UHD's newly established United Nations Association (UNA) Chapter sent students Jeff Abraham and Wallace WIlson to the nation's capital for last month's anual meeting of the UNA-USA. During their trip, the students participated in educational sessions including "GenUN: Building a campus Movement," "United Nations 101," and "U.S. Funding and Adovacacy," among others.

Accompanied by communications lecturer Michael Wilson, UHD UNA members also met Ken Payumo, chief of peace operations; Teta Banks, president of UNA Houston; and Troy Wolfe, director of UNA Education Programs, among many other important contributors to the United Nations. The trip proved to be pivotal, as the students were able to make the necessary contacts to complete chartering process for their campus UNA chapter.

More than 200 UNA-USA members from 70 chapters and campuses across the nation attended the 2015 UNA-USA Annual Meeting. In addition to the notable speakers and presenters, the meeting ended with a record-breaking day on Capitol Hill, with more than 170 Congressional meetings.
