New Advising and Transfer Center Shines on Third Floor

UHD's new Academic Advising and Transfer Center is complete and accepting students on the third floor of the One Main Building.

Last spring, the University received a grant from the Houston Endowment to expand advising services and staff. Following the addition of new advisors to the existing team, it became apparent that new facilities were needed to accommodate the services and the staff.

The build-out of the new advising center is funded by an endowment established by the Cullen Foundation to support institutional priorities. The Center is located in space formerly occupied by the Career Development Center and Student Health Services.

The Center, which will focus its efforts on assisting transfer and undeclared students (declared majors will be advised by college-based advisors), will use a "pre-major" approach and work to streamline the process of moving students into majors and colleges earlier. Students will check-in upon arrival to the Center and see their name in queue on a large TV screen.

Below is a photo of the space before it was complete, as well as several shots from the finished product. Check them out!
