The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD), Houston Community College (HCC) and San Jacinto College (SJC) are hosting a Men of Color Greater Houston Area Collegiate Symposium—"Bound by Our Ties: Tying Together Solutions to Support Educational Enrichment for Men of Color"—from 9 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m., on Oct. 27 in the Welcome Center (Academic Building , Third Floor).

The event will feature keynote speaker, Corry Worrell, career networking strategist and founder of WE Nation Enterprises. The October symposium will specifically review solutions to support students and leaders as they evaluate outcomes for continued success to share with institutions and organizations to support communities, dispel the school-to-prison pipeline and reduce the collegiate dropout rate.

Sponsored by UHD's Department of Minority Male Recruitment, HCC's Men of Honor Program, and SJC's Men of Honor Program. The overarching goal of this collaboration is to effectively engage men of color by creating pathways for students and professionals in the K-16 environment by hosting local schools, colleges, universities and community organizations.
