Mayor Proclaims Citizenship Week with Press Conference

Houston Mayor Annise Parker presented a City proclamation kicking off the City's fourth Annual Citizenship Week to members of the event's steering committee on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Houston City Hall.

After a statement from Mayor Parker proclaiming Citizenship Week the celebration of the "many faces of Houston," committee member Dr. Noel Bezette-Flores, co-chair of Citizenship Week and assistant dean of the College of Public Service, spoke on the various events held throughout the city, including UHD, that aim to celebrate the vibrant multicultural communities of Houston.

The Week is intended to encourage civic engagement, including neighborhood improvement, tree planting, cleaning Buffalo Bayou, helping those in need and other similar initiatives.
