Marketing Week Events Include Alumni Career Panel, Student Mixer

The UHD chapter of the American Marketing Association (UHD-AMA) is planning a series of activities to celebrate Marketing Week, Oct. 6-10. UHD-AMA chose a video game theme for this year's activities - "8 Bit, Yearning for Yesteryear Games." The aim of the theme is "to attract students of both generations who are familiar with these old games and enjoyed the times spent playing them," said UHD-AMA chapter president Matt Luera.

He also explained how this year's theme connects to marketing, stating that "like video games, marketing itself requires a lot of challenging strategy. In the advertising industry, there are always exceptional graphics and great marketing can bring people together."

The goals of Marketing Week are to inform students about marketing careers and to introduce the university community - students, faculty and staff - to the American Marketing Association. The week's events include a career discussion panel of UHD marketing alumni, a student-faculty mixer, and a regional collegiate marketing conference co-hosted with the AMA chapter of Stephen F. Austin University.

The subject of the UHD Marketing Alumni Panel is "Lessons from the Frontline: Career Insights for UHD Students." This event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. in room B140. Panelists will share their personal experiences in job searching and offer advice for career advancement.
