Mandatory Training Begins Next Week

This is a reminder that the FY2014 UHS Mandatory Training period begins Monday, Oct. 14, and runs through 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13. This is a system-wide requirement for ALL university employees, and includes full- and part-time faculty and staff, student workers, and temporary employees paid through the UHD payroll system.

You should receive a personalized email by Oct. 14 that outlines the FY2014 trainings for which you have been enrolled and will need to complete. Mandatory training includes the following:

• Five Primary Trainings - Ethics, EEO, FERPA, Fraud, and Secure Our Systems. Since FY2014 is an acknowledgement year, information sheets will be acknowledged without content testing.

• External Consulting and Outside Employment Reporting form. This is applicable to faculty and exempt staff, as well as non-exempt staff that have purchasing responsibilities.

• Related Party Disclosure form. This is applicable to all full-time faculty and exempt staff, and non-exempt employees that have purchasing responsibilities.

• Finance Trainings, as required of the employee's position or financial responsibilities.

You will be able to access your required training by logging into the new Training Access Portal (TAP) at http://login.tap.uh.edu using your PeopleSoft login information (Employee ID and password). Subsequently, you will receive a weekly status email listing any training that has not been completed. Once you have successfully completed all the required training, you will receive a final email validating your successful completion.

UHS policy outlines the consequences of not completing this training by the prescribed timeline. "System mandated training is considered a minimum job expectation of all employees. System employees who do not complete annual mandatory training by the published deadline will not have met their job expectations and will therefore not be eligible for merit increases (SAM 02.A.11)" and "It is the responsibility of each System employee to complete annual mandatory training. System employees who do not complete annual mandatory training by the published deadline will not have met their job expectations and will therefore not be eligible for merit increases. Supervisors are responsible for monitoring their employees' training performance (SAM 02.A.26)."
