Make Your Voice Heard By Registering To Vote

The 2022 Primary Election Season in Texas is quickly approaching, allowing University of Houston-Downtown students and staff to use their voice and participate in democracy. Registering to vote is the first step in taking part in elections and helping to shape the future of Texas.

Per the State of Texas, eligible voters must be:  

  • A United States citizen;
  • A resident of the county where you submit the application;
  • At least 17 years and 10 months old on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and 18 years of age on Election Day.
  • Not finally convicted of a felony (you may be eligible to vote once you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
  • Not declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

You can check your voter registration status and/or make changes to it online.

The deadline to register to vote is Jan. 31. Early voting begins on Feb. 14 and ends on Feb. 25. Primary Election Day is March 1
