Kristin Anderson to Discuss Anti-Feminism at LSC-Kingwood Women's History Event

UHD Professor of Psychology Kristin Anderson will deliver the keynote address during Lone Star College Kingwood's Women's History Month event next week. Anderson will discuss her book, "Modern Misogyny: Anti-Feminism in a Post-Feminism Era."

Anderson's research explores "benign" bigotry - subtle forms of prejudice and discrimination toward women. "Modern Misogyny" emphasizes recent social moves from feminist activism to individualism, consumerism, and self-empowerment. Anderson challenges the assumption that feminism is unnecessary and examines the function and potential of feminism in women's lives.

The event will be held Thursday, March 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in CLA 114 on the LSC-Kingwood campus. For more information, contact Kristin Anderson or Stephanie Kelly.
