Junior Achievement to Host Student Orientation on UHD Campus

Junior Achievement (JA) will host their Company Student Orientation event in the Cullen Auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 20. About 200 high school and middle school students will attend the program which will include breakfast, business plan workshops, and a small competition. A group of students from the College of Business will give informative, motivational talks to the attendees.

Taught by local business professionals, Junior Achievement programs help prepare young people for the real world by teaching them entrepreneurial skills and financial management. Michael Fields, dean of the College of Business, serves on the board of directors for the organization's Southeast Texas chapter. Students in the JA Company Program learn how to organize and operate an actual business. Students are encouraged to identify specific needs within the local community and develop business plans that meet those needs.
