It’s Walk2Vote Time!
By Marie Jacinto
Election Day (Nov. 7) is right around the corner, with early voting from Oct. 23 through Nov. 3, 2023.
Why not get your vote in early for Houston mayor and city council members? Join the UHD Student Government Association (SGA) for its annual Walk2Vote event at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, on the South Deck to walk to the Harris County Attorney Conference Center, 1019 Congress Avenue, and place your vote!
Walk2Vote is intended to empower individuals and communities to engage actively in the democratic process and to eliminate barriers to voting, foster inclusivity, and strengthen electoral integrity. Its mission is to provide nonpartisan voter education, advocate for accessible voting systems, and promote civic engagement.
The UHD SGA is working to empower students to use their constitutional right to vote and play a critical role in the November elections. Leading the Walk2Vote are Quanisha Vaughn (winner of this year's Homecoming Talent Show) and the UHD Cheer Team, Dance Team, and K-Pop Team. Students are encouraged to join the #W2V campaign today!
