It's a Wrap! UHD’s 75th Commencement Ceremonies Shine a Light on Outstanding Graduates

More than 2,500 UHD students graduated on Dec. 16 at UHD’s 75th Commencement ceremonies at Berry Center Arena. Relive the day in pictures with the video above or the image carousels below.

Dr. Loren J. Blanchard, UHD's President, said it best on LinkedIn:

The University of Houston-Downtown’s 75th commencement ceremony brought a wealth of emotions, ranging from overwhelming joy to calming relief. As we said goodbye to the Class of 2023, we encouraged them to go confidently into the next chapter of their lives.

As our morning speaker, the Honorable Armando Walle, stated, our graduates’ stories are not yet fully written. “You are the author of your story,” he said. “You hold the pen in your hand.” At our afternoon ceremony, UHD alum and former NFL football player Devon Still inspired our students to jump even when afraid: “The work you have done will mean nothing,” Still said, “if you allow fear to stop you from jumping into a new chapter in your life.”

I look forward to seeing what our graduates achieve next, and I have all confidence that they are ready to accomplish much because I know what it means to have earned a UHD degree.

Congratulations again to UHD’s Class of 2023!
