Interim President's Message - Supporting Our Students During Finals Week

Antonio D. Tillis, Ph.D.

Dear UHD Community,

I hope that you are well rested and in good health following the recent break.

As you are aware, we resumed classes online, and finals start this week. Without your care and compassion, our students could not have reached this critical point in the semester, but there’s still more work to be done in the weeks ahead. I encourage everyone to support our students as they complete their end-of-semester projects and prepare for final examinations. Remind them of available resources such as the W.I. Dykes Library and the open computer labs. Most importantly, let them know that you are there for them as they complete the Fall 2020 semester.

It has indeed been a unique semester, but one that has brought our community closer than ever. We came together to provide our students with the tools to succeed, including a recent Health Fair to offer free groceries and ongoing efforts to supply students with computers and other devices. Now, they approach the finish line ready to take on new challenges in the weeks and months ahead.

Thank you for your commitment to both UHD and its students. The University would not be the institution it is without you, and our Gators would not be poised for success without your guidance and mentorship.

Sincerely,

Antonio D. Tillis, Ph.D.
Interim President,
University of Houston-Downtown
