Hundreds Flock To 'Destination Downtown'

It’s no secret that the University of Houston-Downtown is one of the most diverse and affordable higher education institutions in Texas.

As UHD ascends into national and local prominence as a unique and accessible University, its Campus Community and prospective Gators have many opportunities to experience these qualities firsthand.

On Saturday, March 26, hundreds of future students and their families attended UHD’s Destination Downtown to learn why the University is continually recognized for its diversity, high impact, and affordability, and to explore pathways to becoming UHD Gators.

During the weekend event, prospective students and their parents got a preview of the University’s five colleges and 45 undergraduate degree programs. Visitors were also able to learn and ask questions about the UHD admissions process, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and explore student life, including student activities and Sports & Fitness.

“Destination Downtown is the first of many state-of-the-art onboarding experiences that UHD will provide to its future students,” Assistant Dean of Students Branston Harris said. “Students were able to connect with one another, their advisors, their colleges, support services, and the Campus Community in a way that was intentional, authentic, and organic. It was amazing to see a room full of new Gators and their loved ones excited to watch their journey at UHD and beyond.”
