Health Communication Lecture Series Kicks Off Sept. 26

The University of Houston-Downtown will kick off its Health Communication Lecture Series at 6 p.m., Sept. 26 in the Welcome Center. Dr. Steffanie Campbell, a general internist at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, is the series' inaugural speaker. The Health Communication Lecture Series is a joint effort between The Women's Fund for Health Education and Resiliency and UHD's Health Communication concentration area.

Campbell graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 2007 and earned a Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine. After completing a chief medical residency with Indiana University Affiliated Hospitals in 2011, she held faculty positions at Baylor College of Medicine and Indiana University School of Medicine. She joined Kelsey-Seybold in July of 2015.

"As a general internist, my philosophy is holistic care," she said. "I consider my patients family members; I attempt to educate them as much as possible to assure informed decisions are made and we engage in shared-decision making."

Additional Health Communication lectures will take place Oct. 17 (covering mental health) and Nov. 7 (covering reproductive health).
