Head to the Big Easy with CHSS

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is heading to the Big Easy!

From May 15 to 19, 2013 CHSS is hosting a faculty-led trip to New Orleans, Louisiana. Students interested in participating in this trip should be enrolled in the following courses:

  • Humanities 4301/Music 4301: Jazz Heritage New Orleans - Robert Wilson
  • English 4390: Literary New Orleans - Merrilee Cunningham
  • History 4390: Slavery & Freedom in Louisiana - Austin Allen

According to Cunningham, the trip is an amazing opportunity to discover this unique and exciting city.

"Every evening attendees can visit a different Jazz venue and during the days we'll visit museums, plantations and other sites across the city," she said. "People's mouths will drop during this trip - it's that great!"

There are also several scholarships available to interested students that would cover approximately half the cost of the trip.

Meetings for interested students will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, in room A638, Academic Building.
