Harris County Flood Control District Holds Meeting at UHD

By: Mary Ann Cozza

**Note: The HCFCD has cancelled this meeting. An update will be provided when possible.**

UHD will host a community meeting with the Harris County Flood Control District from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in A300, the White Oak Room in the Academic Building.

The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking public feedback as part of its flood damage reduction study of Buffalo Bayou, lower White Oak Bayou and selected tributaries. This study, called Charting Buffalo, aims to integrate options for reducing flooding risks and damages and the need for streambank stabilization with opportunities for third parties to collaborate in creating community and environmental improvements.

A 15-member Steering Committee representing a cross section of community interests helped to create a vision of how flood damage reduction facilities could look. The Charting Buffalo draft report will be available for public review and feedback from February 8 through April 1, 2012.
