Greater Gator Day Honors Freshmen

University College hosted "Greater Gator Day" on Tuesday, April 30, to celebrate UHD's high-achieving freshmen. First-year, first-time-in-college (FTIC) students who earned a 3.5 or higher GPA during the fall semester were invited to join the new First-Year Student Honor Society advised by Mari Nicholson-Preuss, interim director of the University Honors Program. These students will also have the opportunity to be inducted into the national freshman honor society, Alpha Delta Lambda, in the fall.

More than 80 students received invitations based on their first semester GPA. Twenty five of the invitees earned a 4.0 GPA. At the event held in the Learning Connection (405-S), 35 of the new honor society members enjoyed a variety of snacks, socialized and had their pictures taken by the UHD Photography Club. Honor Society members received certificates and silver gator lapel pins to commemorate their academic achievement.
