Gov. Rick Perry appointed three new member to the UH System Board of Regents yesterday, including Spencer D. Armour III of Midland; Roger Fleming Welder of Victoria; and Houstonian Welcome W. Wilson Jr., who replaces his father, Welcome W. Wilson Sr., whose term is expiring.

"The governor has selected three outstanding individuals, and I am confident they have the vision to take the UH System to the next level of excellence," said Board of Regents Chair Nelda Blair. "These appointees have impressive track records of success, and I look forward to collaborating with them on behalf of the System."

Each appointee will serve until Aug. 31, 2017, but they must first be confirmed by the Texas State Senate.
