Garcia Nominated to Board of Directors for National School Boards Association
Congratulations go out to Department of Urban Education Chair Viola Garcia for her recent nomination to the National School Boards Association (NSBA) Board of Directors.
In 1992, Garcia joined the Aldine ISD Board, where she has served as president, vice-president, secretary, and assistant secretary. She is the current president of the TASB Board of Directors, chair of the Executive Committee and vice-chair of the Nominations Committee. Garcia was elected to the TASB Board of Directors in September 2004 and served as a member of the Lone Star Investment Pool Board from 2003 to 2009.
At the recent Southern Region meeting in Destin, Florida, the NSBA Regional Nominating Committee nominated Garcia to a Southern Region position on the NSBA Board of Directors. Her nomination is subject to election by the NSBA Delegate Assembly at the NSBA conference next April.
