Garcia Nominated to Board of Directors for National School Boards Association

Congratulations go out to Department of Urban Education Chair Viola Garcia for her recent nomination to violagarcia_headshotthe National School Boards Association (NSBA) Board of Directors.

In 1992, Garcia joined the Aldine ISD Board, where she has served as president, vice-president, secretary, and assistant secretary. She is the current president of the TASB Board of Directors, chair of the Executive Committee and vice-chair of the Nominations Committee. Garcia was elected to the TASB Board of Directors in September 2004 and served as a member of the Lone Star Investment Pool Board from 2003 to 2009.

At the recent Southern Region meeting in Destin, Florida, the NSBA Regional Nominating Committee nominated Garcia to a Southern Region position on the NSBA Board of Directors. Her nomination is subject to election by the NSBA Delegate Assembly at the NSBA conference next April.
