Gallery Presents New Exhibit from Local Artist

The UHD O'Kane Gallery is hosting the work of Houston artist Vachu Chilakamarri in an exhibit called 'Gravity' from Aug. 4 through 25. Visitors are also welcome to attend a closing artist reception and talk from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Gallery.

The exhibit includes 13 large paintings, equal in size, arranged in harmonious proportions around the open gallery space.

A simple mixture of blacks, reds and whites comprise the palette. The compositions are derived from natural motifs, such as flowers, but are essentially non-figurative expressions of the artist's feeling for the organic world around her. Chilakamarri's heritage is Indian, so many Eastern influences are also recognizable in her work.

This exhibition is open to the public during its summer hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
