Free Rides for METRORail Patrons

Courtesy of Houston METRO

METRO is teaming up with Reliant, KHOU 11 and Ellen in two separate partnerships to promote public transit. The bonus: METRORail patrons ride free, all day, on specific days.

Reliant and METRO are once again "suiting up" a train, wrapped in a large graphic of the Houston Texans' All-Pro wide receiver #80 Andre Johnson to cheer the home team. And, just like last year's partnership, rail patrons will ride for free - courtesy of Reliant - on every Texans home game day. Free fares start at 5:30 a.m. until midnight. METRORail patrons will continue to enjoy free rides through a second partnership with KHOU 11 and Ellen, which kicks off Saturday, September 15 with Museum District Day. The free rides, thanks to KHOU 11 and Ellen, run from 5:30 a.m. to 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15. Additional free-ride days are on the following Sundays: September 23, October 7 and October 28, from 5:30 a.m. until 11:40 p.m.

"These partnerships are two ways METRO is putting its operating principle of being a trusted community partner to work," said METRO President George Greanias. "And we also want to encourage everyone to try public transit any day, not just on these special free ride weekends."
