Fall 2011 Commencement a Great Success

UHD held it's Fall 2011 Commencement ceremony Sunday, Dec. 18, at Minute Maid Park for a record number of graduates. More students graduated this December and more participated in the ceremony than ever before in the history of the University.

The student speaker for this ceremony was Lofton Harrison, a graduate of the College of Public Service. Harrison graduated Sunday after first beginning college more than 20 years ago. He encouraged his fellow graduates to continue to be great and pursue educational endeavors even after completing college.

Also, for the first time at a commencement ceremony, UHD hosted a live Twitter feed on the field's Jumbotron of students', families' and guests' congratulatory messages. The response was overwhelming and UHD Public Affairs thanks all those who participated. Check out some of the messages below:

"We love you Kailey Penney. First in our family to graduate college!!!"

"Congratulations Dad!!! I love you so much and hope that some day I can make you as proud of me as I am of you."

"I'm so excited to see my daughter graduate college today. One proud mom!"

"Congratulations to all of the 2011 Grads." - President Flores
