A new COVID-19 testing incentive is under way at the University of Houston-Downtown. To encourage the campus community to get tested often, UHD is offering $5 a week to students, faculty and staff in GatorCash simply for taking a free COVID-19 test at the UHD kiosk conveniently located next to the Jesse H. Jones Student Life Center​.

GatorCash is applied to UHD Gator ID Cards and can be used at all on-campus restaurants. 

To earn the weekly $5 in GatorCash:

• You must be a UHD student or a member of the UHD faculty or staff – a current PeopleSoft ID is required.
   
• You must be tested on campus at the UHD kiosk. The incentive registration link is only accessible at the kiosk. Use this link to make an appointment.
   
• You must have a GatorCard. The $5 in GatorCash will be credited to your GatorCard each week after your test at the UHD kiosk. No other reimbursement methods are available.
   
•  Limit: one $5 incentive per person per week.

“Testing can serve as an early warning system for people carrying the virus, especially if they don’t have symptoms,” according to Cynthia Vargas, UHD Director of Emergency Management. “A positive result alerts individuals that they could spread the infection, and that they need to isolate and seek medical help to reduce the severity of the disease.”

UHD plans to continue the program through May 22 for students, faculty, and staff to earn up to $75 in GatorCash.

“The free, painless test takes only a few minutes. It’s a simple way to contribute to the health and safety of all members of the UHD Community – and earn GatorCash,” said Vargas.
