Dr. Faiza Khoja Receives Emerging Leader Award
UHD's very own, Dr. Faiza Khoja, associate vice president for Academic Affairs and associate professor of Strategic Management, will receive the 2018 Robert M. MacVittie Emerging Leader Award from the American Association of University Administrators.
In addition to her UHD duties of leading the offices of Institutional Effectiveness, Study Abroad, and Community Engagement & Service Learning, she also serves as the liaison to the Texas Education Coordinating Board, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and Commission on Colleges. Among her community service activities are chairing fundraising efforts for an international foundation and spearheading change and accountability of a $100 million credit union.
"Faiza is an excellent example of a highly engaged, dedicated, and capable young administrators who is already leaving her mark on the institution," Jerome L. Neuner, chairman of the AAUA awards committee, noted. "The committee was impressed by the very wide range of responsibilities Faiza has assumed in a relatively short period of time in administration, many of which are considered mission-critical jobs central to the institution's progress. Her potential for higher level offices is evident to her superiors and her staff members alike. We can predict that in future years she will continue to develop her already impressive skills and abilities. She is clearly a worthy winner of the 2018 MacVittie Award."
The MacVittie Award is named for a founding member of AAUA and honors early career administrators who have no more than five years in their current positions. AAUA's mission is to develop and advance superior standards for the profession of higher education administration. The Association "emphasizes the responsibility of administrator, at all levels, to demonstrate moral and ethical leadership in the exercise of their duties."
The award will be presented to Khoja at the AAUA Leadership Seminar, June 7 - 8 at Widener University in Chester, Philadelphia.
