Construction Update - Full Closure of Academic Building Garage

ParkingThe revised schedule for the full closure of the Academic Building Garage is as follows:

  • Friday - Sunday, 5/16 - 5/18
  • Friday - Sunday, 5/23 - 5/25
  • Friday - Sunday, 5/30 - 6/1
  • Thursday - Sunday, 6/5 - 6/8
  • Friday - Sunday, 6/13 - 6/15

As a reminder, access cards for those with reserved Academic Building Garage parking will be programmed to access the Vine Street Garage (the student garage located east of the Shea Street Building) during these closure dates. Replacement lots A & B are also options.

Access cards issued to those designated as disabled are programmed to also access the Naylor Street Garage (under the Shea Street Building). On Fridays, there will be a parking attendant available to shuttle disabled parkers from the Naylor/Vine Garages to the North Dock Lobby of the One Main Building. This service will be available from 7:30-9 a.m. and from 4-5:30 p.m. Those needing assistance between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Fridays should contact the Parking Office at ext. 8127. Parking for the disabled is also available in the Daly Street Student Parking Lot near the second gazebo, where the shuttle bus picks up and drops off.

Last week, the entry and exit to/from the Academic Building Garage was reduced to a single lane. This configuration will remain in effect for the next six weeks. During this period, Vaughn Construction will have flagmen in place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to assist with the traffic control. After 8 p.m., UHD police will take over traffic control.

The Visitor kiosk building was also removed last week. For the remainder of the construction project a parking attendant will be stationed in the Academic Building Garage to assist visitors, the disabled parking permit holders and those with Academic Building Garage spaces. All are urged to be extra observant and aware while entering and exiting the Academic Building Garage during this period. We also ask you to reduce your speed as you would at any road work area.
