College of Public Service Announces 2022 Social Work Person of the Year

Robin Cole, Founder of The Society of Justice & Equality, Named

As part of a UHD tradition since 2011, the College of Public Service announced its 2022 Social Work Per of the Year, Robin Cole.

Cole is the founder and president of The Society of Justice & Equality (S.O.J.E.S.) for the People of Sugar Land, which is an independent, non-profit community organization dedicated to historic preservation and educating the community about the contributions of African Americans in the creation and progression of Sugar Land and Fort Bend County, Texas. This includes commemorating and memorializing the Sugar Land 95.

Cole joins previous Houston honorees, including: Dr. Peter J. Hotez and Dr. Maria Elena Bottazzi, Former Harris County Clerk Chris Collins, Gringo’s Restaurant Owner Russell Ybarra, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Pulitzer Prize Winning Houston Chronicle columnist  Lisa Falkenberg, and BakerRipley President Emerita Angela Blanchard.
