College of Business Faculty Collaborate with Textbook Author to Enhance Classroom Learning
As a part of their efforts to provide students with reality-based business education, the Business Communication faculty hosted and participated in a faculty development workshop in collaboration with McGraw-Hill Education publishers last week. The faculty welcomed Peter Cardon, president of the Association of Business Communication (ABC) and author of "Business Communication: Developing Leaders for a Networked World," a textbook to be used in course sections this fall. Also in attendance were business and communication faculty members from University of Houston, University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University and Texas Tech University.
Cardon, a professor at the University of Southern California, highlighted best practices in teaching credibility, internal social media skills and other emerging topics in business communication. During the presentation, attendees had the unique opportunity to ask questions and provide Cardon with feedback on the textbook, suggest potential case studies and establish a collaborative relationship with the author, which will extend into the future.
Later, McGraw-Hill's team of technology consultants presented workshops on course integration with Connect software, guiding instructors through the set-up process and exploring available tools and techniques for success.
