Calling All Gators: It’s Back to the Bayou for You!
Homecoming 2022 Brings the Campus Together for Uniquely Gator Events
By Marie Jacinto
Can you believe it? It is already time for Homecoming Week 2022! And we are inviting everyone—students, alumni, staff, and faulty—“Back to the Bayou” for a jam-packed week of events Oct. 10-15.
New this year are the UHD Homecoming Talent Show, the Friday Night Formal (titled MORP—“prom” spelled backward), and a Stroll Competition. Come watch and cheer as UHD fraternity and sorority teams strut their precision, synchronization, originality, and showmanship in this first-ever UHD Homecoming Stroll Competition!
Get the week off to a great Gator start with Mum Mania on Monday. Then join President Blanchard for the Homecoming Barbeque lunch on Oct. 11 on the South Deck. And don’t forget Noche Latina, organized by UHD’s Multicultural Greek Council.
In true Gator fashion, events aimed at service to others are also on the slate: the Northwest Campus is holding a canned goods drive throughout the week, and there is a blood drive Downtown.
Homecoming Week culminates on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Tail-Gatoring, a traditional tailgate cook-off complete with food, contests, and an all-around good time. Join us, too, as we face Prairie View A&M University on the basketball court at 4 p.m. to round out the festivities.
From Consoles and Kicks to a ton of events sponsored by Sports and Fitness, including the UHD Gator Pride Pep Rally and the Staff vs. Student Volleyball Match, there’s so much planned for the UHD Homecoming Week 2022! Check out the complete schedule of events and sign up!
