ATTN: Latino Faculty Experts HACU and NHMC Seek Your Expertise to Promote Diversity through Media

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) are collaborating to help promote Hispanics who are experts in their fields from HACU-member institutions, including UHD.

The NHMC is working to increase the diversity of viewpoints available to media in the largest U.S. markets and Houston is among them. Participants in the "Latino Experts" project will receive media training by NHMC's President and CEO Alex Nogales. Thereafter, the organization will provide a list of experts to local station managers to reference when covering news stories relevant to Latino issues. Details for the media training are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, March 19

Location: Teach for America, 2 Greenway Plaza, Houston, TX

Times: The training sessions are in one-hour blocks, from 4-5 p.m., 5-6 p.m., 6-7 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Claire Caton, UHD director of media relations, at 713-226-5223 or catonc@uhd.edu.
