Annual High Art Exhibition to Open May 14

The O'Kane Gallery is set to showcase works by Houston-area high school students in its annual High Art exhibition. The exhibition will kick off with an opening reception on Monday, May 14 at 2 p.m. and will run through Saturday, May 21.

Art teachers from area high schools are invited to choose and send the gallery their best student work in all media. Participating high schools include:

  • Carver
  • Cypress Falls
  • DeBakey
  • Elsik
  • Episcopal
  • Hastings
  • HSPVA
  • New Caney
  • Reagan
  • St. Johns
  • Waltrip
  • Westside High

The juried exhibition will award prizes. This year's juror is Grace Zuñiga, Visual Art Director and Exhibitions Curator, Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts (MECA) (www.gracezuniga.com).

The show is generously funded by longtime supporters Jim and Ellen Seigler, who along with former gallery director Ann Trask, founded of the High Art exhibition project more than 15 years ago.
