Animal Rescue Club Seeking Volunteers for ABC13 'Pick Your Pet' Event

UHD's Animal Rescue Club (ARC) is helping out the Bureau of Animal Rescue and Care (BARC) by heading to ABC13 studios to assist at an all-day adoption event. "Pick your Pet" will take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, March 23 at ABC13 Studios.

UHD's ARC will be assisting with dog walking, transporting the cats and dogs to different areas, and adoption counseling in three-hour shifts beginning at 10 a.m. If you would like to volunteer or learn more about this event, click here.

ARC serves the Houston community by rescuing and caring for homeless or shelter-housed cats and dogs. ARC is the University's largest club and holds monthly group volunteer events at shelters in and around Houston. Many of the members adopt and foster animals themselves, such as club officer, Amaris Sanchez, who recently adopted a puppy from BARC.

BARC strives to be the nationally recognized model of excellence in animal care and placement. City governments throughout the United States see BARC as the beacon of best practices dedicated to delivering humane, efficient and high quality service. Adopting through BARC includes spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, microchipping, rabies vaccination/city licensing, and more.
