Alumni Online Challenge Launches May 21

The University of Houston-Downtown's faculty and staff continue to demonstrate their commitment to our students in tangible ways. In March, UHD kicked off its first ever "We Believe" Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign to raise money for students and university priorities. Following the age-old adage "charity begins at home," the employees pulled together over a four-week period to raise nearly $46,000. With a 50 percent participation rate (which mirrors the national average among employee giving campaigns in higher education institutions), the faculty and staff collectively raised an average of over $11,500 per week for student scholarships, endowments, the W.I. Dykes Library and their respective colleges.

Now UHD wants its alumni to do the same. May 21-25 will mark our first ever Alumni Online Challenge. During this period, UHD faculty, staff and students challenge alumni to give to the Major Opportunity Fund. Our goal is to receive 2,012 donations in 2012 and with your support, we can do it! Visit www.uhd.edu/alumnichallenge beginning May 21 to make a gift of any amount. During that entire week, alumni and friends can follow our progress on the webpage and share posts on Twitter and Facebook. Please stay tuned as more information will follow throughout the month leading to the challenge.
