Houston Chronicle: Doctors said Heather Strange might never walk or talk, but the Montrose resident, who was a "Shrine Princess" or patient ambassador 20 years ago at the groundbreaking of Shriners Hospitals for Children-Houston, kept believing, through multiple surgeries and seizures. In May, at age 31, Strange crossed the stage at Minute Maid Park to give the student commencement speech at her graduation from the University of Houston Downtown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

The Paper: Shamethia Dillard chosen as principal for Spring ISD's Major Elementary. She graduated with honors from the University of Houston - Downtown, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies.
