As part of Citizenship Month Houston 2015, University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) President Dr. Bill Flores and First Lady Dr. Noël Bezette-Flores invites the UHD community to the annual Aga Khan Foundation Walk/Run Houston on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) to raise awareness and funds for programs that work with communities around the world to build better futures.

The event will support the efforts by the Aga Kahn to reduce and break the cycle of global poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy and social exclusion, predominately in Africa and Asia. In 2014, Houston's Walk/Run raised more than $1.6 million to support the foundation's mission. Houston's walk is one of ten held in cities across the nation.

As a member of the UHD team, breakfast and transportation to/from UHD to the walk will be provided by way of METRORail. Participants are encouraged to wear UHD apparel to the event. Student organizations are encouraged to register to fulfill community service hours.
