Academy Sports + Outdoors Executive Shares Insight With IRM Students March 29

Since 2013, Insurance & Risk Management students (IRM) at the Marilyn Davies College of Business have been afforded opportunities to gain valuable knowledge from successful industry executives through the Risk Manager on Campus Program sponsored by the Spencer Educational Foundation.

Jeff Strege, Senior Director for Risk Management for Academy Sports + Outdoors, will share his professional experience with students in IRM classes this week with the virtual presentation, “Risk Management: In the Trenches” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29. RSVP is required for the event.

Presently, Strege is the President of the Houston Chapter of the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS). He has extensive experience as a national and international risk management professional working for companies including Sysco, IMA Financial Group, and CEC Entertainment. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Averett University and a bachelor’s from Concordia University. Strege holds RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.

“Our students have benefited from hearing the experiences of veteran professionals such as Mr. Strege,” said Priscilla Oehlert, Director of the Insurance & Risk Management Center at the Marilyn Davies College of Business. “He is highly connected and respected in the national risk management community, and our future IRM professionals will gain first-hand insight into what the profession has to offer.”

Strege will also serve as the keynote speaker for an on campus and virtual presentation at 5:30 p.m.,  April 1, in Room B330 of the College of Business’ Shea Street Building. To attend via Zoom, participants should email their request before the event.
