2023-24 President’s Lecture Series Kicks Off Sept. 27

‘The Entrepreneur’s Journey: Conversations With Our Alumni Entrepreneurs’

What does it take to be a successful entrepreneur? Three UHD alumni will share their stories at the first event of the 2023-24 President’s Lecture Series on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the TDECU Tour Room in the Welcome Center. 

During “The Entrepreneur’s Journey: Conversations With Our Alumni Entrepreneurs,” UHD alumni entrepreneurs will share how they started their own businesses, transitioned from their professional lives to entrepreneurship, and are having positive impacts in their communities. Lunch will be provided.

Dr. Candace TenBrink, Associate Professor, Strategy, Marilyn Davies College of Business, will moderate the panel, which includes Darian Lewis Sr. (’02), Chief Marketing Officer/COO, and Monica Lewis, CEO and Founder, The Monica Lewis School of Etiquette; Angel Cabrera (’09), Owner, Tacos Doña Lena; and Gabriela Smith (’14), Co-founder and CEO, Big State Construction. 

The conversation will give the audience an inside look into what life as an entrepreneur can entail and how entrepreneurship can prove to be a viable career path. Current students are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about valuable career insights, lessons, and know-how tips for their own professional growth and development.
