New Interim Vice President of Enrollment Joins UHD

Dear UHD Community,

I am pleased to announce that Rebecca Eckstein has joined the University of Houston-Downtown as Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management.

Eckstein, an enrollment management expert, is the founder of Admission Network, LLC, a coaching and consulting firm for higher education, students and families.

She began her career in higher education with the implementation of the enrollment tool, BANNER, at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. She joined the University as Director of Financial Aid and was eventually promoted to Dean of Enrollment Management. As Dean, she directed all areas of enrollment management, including admissions, retention, financial aid, marketing and communications, student records, and event management.

In her 25-year career in education, Eckstein has advanced the enrollment and net revenue at many educational institutions and assisted thousands of students in obtaining their degrees. She held positions at various liberal arts colleges, a women’s college, the largest independent school district in the continental U.S., and Division I and Division II universities.

Eckstein has a master's degree in Liberal Studies/Computational Science from Hollins University and a bachelor's degree from Mary Baldwin College in Business Administration/accounting. She also is a Certified Executive Coach.

Eckstein will remain Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management until a permanent vice president is in place. She will not be a candidate for the permanent position. Dr. Scott Marzilli, Dean of University College, will lead the search committee to identify a permanent candidate for the university. An announcement of the composition of the search committee will follow shortly.

Please join me in welcoming Rebecca Eckstein to our campus to assist us in achieving our enrollment goal of 14,500.

Sincerely,

Ed Hugetz
Provost and SVP for Academic and Student Affairs
