Join the University of Houston- Downtown (UHD) on Sunday, May 6 as it partners with Saint Arnold Brewing Company for the annual Santo de Mayo 5k. The run has become St. Arnold’s largest brewery event and will begin at 8:30 a.m. The route begins at the brewery, winds through downtown on a USA Track & Field certified course and loops back to where it started. Runners, volunteers and supporters are invited to attend a post-race fiesta immediately after the race and enjoy live music, great food and of course, tasty beers.
UHD is seeking volunteers to assist starting as early as 7:00 a.m. Volunteers will be granted free access to the fiesta, a commemorative T-Shirt and breakfast. If you would like to volunteer for this event, click here.
At the race, volunteers are needed to serve as course monitors and to provide site clean-up from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. From 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., volunteers are needed to serve as “human arrows” providing directions parking in the Daly Street Lot to the shuttle bus loading area.
On May 4, volunteers are needed to hand out packets at Academy Sports and Outdoors (2404 Southwest Freeway) from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The $50 fee to register for the race includes entry into the 5K and the post-race fiesta, a commemorative Santo De Mayo 5K pint glass, a technical race shirt, three delicious beers, a breakfast burrito, chip timing, and a commemorative race bib. UHD students, faculty, staff and alumni can run in the race at a discounted rate of 15 percent off.
