Boston University School of Medicine Professor Visits UHD

Symes Dr. Karen Symes

UHD College of Sciences & Technology is hosting Dr. Karen Symes of Boston University School of Medicine, from 11:00 a.m to noon, on Wed., March 7 in the One Main Building, Room N1099.

Symes' presentation, "PATHs toward the Health Professions: A Multifaceted Approach to Preparing for Medical School," is based on the framework used in the Office of Student Affairs at Boston University School of Medicine. PATH is a program that aids students in developing the attitudes and behaviors of healthy healthcare professionals. This interactive talk will use PATH to address two main points:

  • Expectations that medical schools have of their students.
  • How undergraduates can begin to prepare as they embark on a career as a health care professional.

Symes leads the educational mission of the Boston University's Department of Biochemistry and has major roles in curriculum design, development and implementation in the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences and in the Medical School.

This talk will be especially beneficial for pre-med undergraduates, however, all majors, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
