Do you have aspirations of becoming the next Martin Scorsese or Steven Spielberg? The College of Humanities & Social Sciences is Calling All Future Filmmakers for its first-ever Arts & Communication Mobile Film Festival.
“We have great things planned for this year’s Arts & Communication Festival and the Mobile Film Fest is just one of those additions,” said Abigail Koenig, lecturer of Communications Studies. “When we were planning the A&C Fest we got to thinking of the talented students on campus, many of whom have told us that they want to go into film and broadcast—this film festival is an opportunity to showcase UHD students’ creative skills in a friendly environment.”
All 1 to 5-minute submissions, created on your mobile device, will be screened at the April 12 Arts & Communication Festival in the Mural Area on the third floor of the Academic Building.
Arts & Communication Festival Mobile Film Festival Rules & Regulations:
- Students must complete an “Intent to Submit Form” by March 5 (films are not required to be completed by this date, just an intent to be a part of the festival).
- Completed films must be submitted in digital form (Dropbox, One Drive, Google, etc.) to Abigail Koenig, firstname.lastname@example.org by APRIL 2 to be screened.
- Running time for all films should be between 1 and 5 minutes (+/- 30 seconds).
- Films should be credited to UHD students (assistance of outside UHD community OK).
- 100 percent of the film must be shot with a mobile device, (iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Nokia, etc.).
- You may use multiple mobile devices for your film.
- You may use any software to edit video and audio.
- You may use any software for color correction or special effects.
- You may use an external microphone, wide angle lens, lighting, tripod, etc.
- Content of the movie/film/video has to be appropriate for public viewing.
- Excessive graphic violence, racism and/or multiple obscenities will disqualify your film.
- Music Rights: Projects screened in an educational environment are not required to obtain music rights (if you plan to submit your film to another festival, consider that copyrighted materials may not be accepted), but must be credited at the end of the film.
- Non-Original Footage: No stock footage or footage shot or created at another time may be used. (However, stock animated special effects are permitted (action essentials, flames, fog, etc.).
