February Gator Grit Series Slated for Feb. 15

The second installment of UHD's Gator Grit Series, "A Conversation with D'Artagnan Bebel: Life Stories on Leadership, Finding Your Way," is Thursday, Feb. 15 in the Welcome Center Tour Room.

Bebel, vice president and general manager of FOX 26 Houston, has served in this capacity since 2000. Under his leadership are three operating units for the Fox Television Stations Division of News Corporation, including Fox 26 KRIV-TV, MY 20 KTXH-TV and Fox26Houston.com. With a career in broadcasting spanning more than 30 years, Bebel has served in a variety of sales and sales management positions with companies, such CBS and The Dispatch Group.

In his current position, career accomplishments include expanding local newscasts from 35.5 to 52.5 hours per week; conceived popular news franchise segments such as "The Isiah Factor," "Uncovering Child Predators" and the Emmy Award-winning MyFoxHoustonLIVE!.com. Bebel also planned and executed the merger of KTXH station operations with KRIV in 2006.

The Howard University graduate earned an MBA in marketing from Columbia University Graduate School of Business in his hometown of New York City. He is the recipient of Howard University School of Communications' Legacy Alumnus of The Year Award.

UHD's Gator Grit Speaker Series highlights regional leaders, showcasing examples of grit that inspires courage, resolve and tenacity within both UHD and the Houston community.
