It’s a fact that University of Houston-Downtown students are on the go. Between the walks between the institutions’ buildings and class time, finding time for breakfast, lunch and dinner can be challenging.
UHD Dining Services, however, has consistently maintained quality offerings that are delivered quickly to accommodate the campus community’s busy schedules. Soon, food options on campus will be refreshed and expanded to offer additional options and amenities to Gators.
Students may have noticed some enhancements to dining services, including the addition of food trucks to Lot A at Naylor Street and Main Street. These grab and go eateries will be parked near the Marilyn Davies College of Business between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 5:30 p.m. through 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday. Local favorites will rotate during different weeks including YoYo’s Hot Dogs, Muiishi Makirritos and Casian King among others.
In addition to the food trucks outside of the Shea Street Building, students at the Marilyn Davies College of Business soon will see the addition of a pizza oven and hot dogs to that building’s café. Other recent upgrades include new fare in the Academic Building. These include last year’s additions of Sushi in the Coffee House, and Burger 713 and 2.mato (pizza) in the Dining Hall.
These recent changes and addition, however, are just a preview of other changes coming to UHD. These include refreshes (all scheduled for summer 2018) to existing favorites including:
- Starbucks – Expanded counter and serving space and seating
- Chick-fil-A – Updated façade and expanded menu
- Create (salad bar) – Expanded options and self-service for convenience
Campus community members at the Commerce Street Building also will have options beyond the current vending machines. Smart Market, a self check-out market offering food and beverages, is scheduled to be installed at this building by this summer. In the meantime, “Enjoy” vending machines that deliver fresh, healthy options will soon be available to faculty, staff and students at this building.
