2018 Arts & Communications Festival Kicks Off April 11

Unlike, past year's festivals that spanned an entire week, this year's College of Humanities & Social Sciences' Arts & Communications Festival is choked full of fun into two days.

Also, the festival will include more student organizations participating, such as Campus Activities Board, Sports & Fitness, Student Government Association, W.I. Dykes Library, UHD Choir, and Student Activities and others.

New to this year's festival is the Communication Studies Panel Presentation, Heroes of Harvey, on April 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. The panel will consist of communication professionals in PR, media and social media, discussing how they used their skills during Harvey. Also, the Department of Communication Studies will host its annual Communications' Pitch Tank, an opportunity for students to pitch their research ideas and win prizes. Other events include Story/Poetry/Speech Open Mic, Stage Combat workshop; and karaoke, among many more.

However, festival favorites are returning this year—Arts & Communication Internship Fair featuring more than 20 different arts and communication organizations and Gator Chalk Drawing Day. As in year's past, the end of the festival concludes with the opening of the O'Kane Theatre's new production, "Lone Star." And, a small reception celebrating the Student Exhibition at O'Kane Gallery.
