The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) continues to receive national recognition for its online programs. AffordableCollegesOnline.org, a leader in higher education information, resources and rankings has recognized the University for its excellence in online learning.

"We wanted to honor the colleges and universities setting the bar for online learning," said Dan Schuessler, CEO and Founder of AffordableCollegesOnline.org. "These schools are going above and beyond the industry standard to help make online education programs an excellent option and more affordable."

UHD Online helps to meet the academic needs of working and non-traditional students to pursue an education online, offering three master's degree programs: non-profit management, criminal justice and security management. UHD Online has now been recognized for its excellence in online education nine times since 2016 by additional higher education resource guides.

The data-based ranking, titled "Best 4-Year Online Colleges in Texas" identified the state's top institutions based on the following data points:

  • Regional accreditation
  • In-state tuition and fees
  • Percent of full-time undergraduate students receiving institutional financial aid
  • Number of online programs offered
  • Student-to-teacher ratio

The higher education resource compared the cost of a program to the cost of other programs with the same (or a similar) qualitative score— and the qualitative score of the program to the score of other programs with the same (or a similar cost) for its methodology.
