Texas State Representative Gene Wu, who represents District 137 in Houston, visited the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) to speak to faculty, staff and students on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Rep. Wu addressed various issues currently impacting the city, focusing on social justice and criminal justice reform. Wu noted his background—born to immigrant parents in Guangzhou, China—provided context for his commentary about the importance of diversity in legislative matters and governmental representation. The presentation was organized on behalf of UHD’s Masters in Non-Profit Management (MNPM) program.
