Disaster Supplies Available for UHD Community Oct. 12

Summary

By Mike Emery

Items were provided from donors in North Carolina and arrived by truck earlier in the week. Donations were coordinated by The Community of Bertie County and the Bertie County Alumni Community Association, including association president Jackie Lyons and chair Frank Mitchell. Chris Lyons drove the truck from North Carolina to UHD.

North Carolina partners who contributed items to this effort include Advance Auto, Food Lion, Coastal Medical Transport, and Pugh Auto Sales.

UHD's Office of Student Activities is overseeing the distribution of these items.

These efforts complement other University initiatives aimed at supporting those who are still recovering from Harvey. In September, Ruama Camp arrived on campus as UHD's Disaster Assistance Specialist, and last week, the University hosted a Disaster Relief Fair.
