The UHD's Center for Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (CSDEI) is offering a number of events in conjunction with the celebration of LGBT History Month during October.

"This is an excellent opportunity to educate ourselves about a movement and a people who, until very recently, were concealed or simply left out in historical contexts," said John Hudson, director of CSDEI.

All month long, the Center will host film screenings, speaker panels and pride celebrations to highlight the landmark obstacles and accomplishments of those in the LGBT community and discuss the importance of the gay and civil rights movements.

"It's vitally important for any minority group—including sexual minorities—to know their own histories, and equally important that those histories become part of our collective history as a nation," added Hudson.
